Johnny Walker, Capt., U.S. Navy (Ret.) is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of THOR Solutions LLC, an Engineering and Professional Services company (NAICS 541330) with 150+ employees. Founded in 2009, THOR is a Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE) certified Service- Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) (http://thorsolutions.us). Furtherto guiding THOR’s growth and development, Johnny applies his Navy and industry experience to oversee company quality control as well as serving as an advisor to the Navy, Coast Guard and industry for ship machinery control, main propulsion diesel and electrical system power generation and intelligent power management.
During his service in the Navy Johnny served at sea: in USS OLDENDORF (DD-972), on the staff of Commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group ONE (CCDG-1), on the staff of Commander, Amphibious Squadron TWO (CPR-2). Johnny served as a Department Head in USS O’BANNON (DD-972) and in USS NORMANDY (CG-60). Johnny’s at sea commands include USS CHAMPION (MCM-4), deploying as part of the INCHON Task Group and MCMFORMED, supporting NATO Kosovo Operation NOBLE ANVIL and USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD-44), deploying for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, landing 500 combat ready Marines and embarking Allied Underwater Mine Clearance (UMCM) forces, including the Navy’s MK 7/MK 8 MarineMammal Systems for mine clearance of the Khawr 'Abd Allah and az-Zubayr waterways, and Iraq’sstrategic port Um Qasr.
Johnny’s Navy assignments ashore include: OPNAV Director of Expeditionary Warfare, N85 Mine Warfare Deputy Branch Head and SMCM Requirements Officer, Assistant Program Manager for Landing Craft Air cushion (LCAC), Amphibious Warfare Program Office (PMS 377), where he led LCAC Service Life Extension Program (SLEP), and the initial requirements definition for the Ship to Shore Connector (SSC); followed by his last tour as Major Program Manager, Mine Warfare, Amphibious, Auxiliary and Command Ship-Patrol Costal Program (MAAC Ships, PMS 470), leading an integrated program team charged with the Fleet introduction, modernization, life-cycle management and sustainment of more than 80 ships and 10 Navy dry docks.
Johnny is a certified in DAWIA Level III Program Management and CMMI© standards, holds a degree from the University of Oklahoma in MIS Software Engineering, a MMAS in Middle Eastern Studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC). Under Johnny’s leadership, THOR has established a reputation as uniquely seasoned engineering services provider to both Government and Industry.
