V Next 2

On 1 October, THOR Solutions rolled out its “Version Next” (THOR vNext) corporate innovation initiative. THOR vNext redefines the company’s organizational hierarchy from the ground up, outlines internal roles and responsibilities—enabling a scalable framework to support THOR’s continued growth and success.

As part of this effort, THOR announced some changes in leadership roles at the executive level.  Johnny Walker will remain THOR’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will realign the role of President; Rich Miner, previously THOR’s Chief Operating Officer, will assume the role of President, leading the overall day-to-day operations of the company, and for converting THOR’s long-term goals and objectives into near-term action. Additionally, Rich will perform the duties of THOR’s Chief Strategy and Growth Officer in a dual-hatted capacity, building and maintaining THOR’s Strategic Plan and leading Business Development efforts across the company. Mike Obar, THOR’s Chief Engineer, will also assume the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), overseeing our finance, accounting and contracts operations and advancing the sophistication THOR’s accounting tools and techniques. Steve Leavy will fill the newly-established role of Chief of Corporate Operations (CCO). In this critical position, Steve will be responsible for successful and compliant internal operations in the areas of Human Resources, Recruiting, Workforce Development, Security, Safety, and Infrastructure Management. Dan Henderson is THOR’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO)—responsible for the successful execution of THOR’s direct work and ensuring we exceed our customers’ expectations; fulfill all our contractual obligations; and motivate, mentor and reward our employees.

To streamline THOR’s technical operations, THOR has consolidated from five technical Divisions to four, with the current Undersea Warfare Division and Fleet Operations Division merging to form the new Technical Solutions Division. THOR’s Division on the West Coast, formerly known as the Waterfront Division, will be renamed the Fleet Support Division. THOR’s Engineering and Shipbuilding Divisions remain unchanged. To support successful contact execution, THOR selected a group of Operations Managers to oversee the performance within a geographic area. Operations Managers are now established in THOR’s major support areas including DC/Metro; Tidewater; Gulf Coast; Northeast; and Southern California.

When asked about the inspiration behind THOR vNext, THOR CEO Johnny Walker commented: “Companies that don’t innovate get left behind.  THOR has experienced successful, sustained growth since the company’s inception, and thanks to our excellent reputation the future looks even brighter!”
