In the fall of 2018, THOR won a $5.1M Seaport-e Task Order to provide engineering, technical, and programmatic support to the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Gulf Coast (SSGC). Headquartered in Pascagoula, Mississippi, SSGC is the United States Navy’s agency that administers shipbuilding and ship repair contracts with major shipbuilding contractors on the Gulf Coast. SSCG provides engineering, quality assurance, contract management, and financial services required to streamline how our shipbuilding contractors provide ships and craft to our Navy.

THOR will support the full portfolio of New Construction, post-delivery, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Programs at SSGC in Pascagoula, MS, and Morgan City, LA. Tasks will include supporting SSGC with the administration and management of construction, reactivation, design, planning, conversion, repair, deactivation, dismantling, and overhaul of ships and craft. This includes Engineering, Technical, Production Control, Environmental, Safety, & Health (ESH), QA, Data Management, Logistics, Financial, Programmatic, and Administrative support to the QA, Engineering, and Information Technology Departments.

“This win is our second prime contract supporting the Navy on the Gulf Coast and solidifies our presence in the area,” said Johnny Walker, THOR’s President and CEO. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support SSGC in their efforts to efficiently deliver new ships and craft to the US Navy.” In order to effectively and efficiently support SSGC, THOR has opened an office downtown Pascagoula, just five minutes away from SSCG and the Ingalls Shipbuilding.

The successful execution of these efforts will be led by Del Pritchard, THOR’s Program Manager. Del has over 40 years of shipbuilding and naval engineering experience, including 20 years of engineering and production services in support of Navy ship construction programs in Gulf Coast shipyards. Del has a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School and served more than 25 years as a US Navy Engineering Duty Officer. “We are delighted to have Del on the THOR Team,” stated Rich Miner, THOR’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). “The depth and breadth of Del’s experience supporting Gulf Coast shipbuilding activities, combined with his disciplined and customer-focused management approach, put us in an excellent position to succeed.”
