THOR provides the US Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NAVSEA) Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) with Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Systems support for surface ships, submarines and aircraft carriers. THOR assists SWRMC in providing direct support to fleet units and Type Commanders (TYCOMs) in waterfront Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), assessment, techniques and training associated with the operation, installation, maintenance, repair and readiness of shipboard equipment and systems. THOR supports SWRMC in increasing the reliability and maintainability of shipboard HM&E systems with dedicated field technical support, enhanced availability planning, emergent systematic technical and repair assistance, automated maintenance techniques, and documentation and maintenance procedures. THOR provides SWRMC engineering assessments and operations support for project engineering, test engineering, naval architecture, corrosion control, coatings, watertight enclosures, docking, tanks, voids, structures, passive countermeasure systems, firefighting, environmental, freshwater, AC&R, compressed air systems, elevator systems, hydraulics, controls, piping systems, gas turbines, vibration analysis, electrical, auxiliary and main propulsion steam systems, ship’s service power generation and main propulsion diesel engines and machinery controls. Support is provided in San Diego, CA and throughout locations in the Pacific Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR).
